Irvin Pascal

Irvin Pascal is from London and lives and works in Sussex. His paintings, made from a combination of different materials, exhibit great texture and mostly dark colors. His sculptures have a specific monumentality and explore a field between the human body and abstraction. In some of his works Pascal uses a unique sculptural material (Pascollar), developed by the artist using, among other matters, his own hair. Pascal’s investigation of masculinity encompasses a lot of his own story: his past as a boxer, his African and Caribbean roots and even his own physical presence in the works of art he produces. The artist was one of the Bloomberg New Contemporaries for 2017.
